About Clean

Who makes Clean
Clean is built and maintained by HexaLab, a small independent software studio based at HexaLab.app. We build privacy-first utilities that solve specific problems without bloated features, account walls, or data tracking.
Why Clean exists
When you take or edit a photo, invisible metadata is attached to the file: exact GPS location, camera serial numbers, and automated AI tags like C2PA and IPTC digital source markers. Social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook read these markers and automatically slap "AI info" labels on photos, even when a human photographer only performed basic color corrections or minor retouching.
Most web tools that claim to "clean" photos secretly upload your images to remote cloud servers or re-compress them using the browser canvas, altering pixels and degrading image quality. We built Clean to give photographers, sellers, and privacy-conscious creators a trustworthy, lossless alternative.
The privacy principle: zero server uploads
Your photo never leaves your device. When you open an image in Clean, the file is read directly into your browser memory. Our parser runs inside a client-side Web Worker, stripping metadata containers and copying your compressed image bytes without re-encoding a single pixel.
We enforce this strictly with browser Content Security Policy (CSP) headers that block unauthorized outbound connections. No server sees your images, your file names, or your location coordinates.
